As much as I love taking family photos outside, I have to say that over the last year I've really enjoyed studio work like this. I'm drawn to the timeless simplicity of an image like this, where there's no distraction.

You can really see the expression, the connection, and the true beauty of each person in the frame. The dark clothing against the dark background helps accent the face, drawing your eye first to the eyes and smile.

How cool that someday this lovely girl will have this image of her and mom together to show her kids and grandkids.

New work for Gretchen Loper Design.

I know you see lots of different types of photos on this feed. Well, that's because I photograph both commercial projects like this one and personal portraits.

I keep saying I'm going to narrow it down someday but for now I really enjoy being able to work in so many different environments. It has helped me develop the skills & tools that help make me a better photographer and be able to consistently deliver a high standard of quality. It's fun to walk into new spaces and problem solve what the best photographic solutions might be.

A quick post to share one of my personal favorite images from #summer2023 during our family trip a few weeks back. We spent a week aboard the Norwegian Encore visiting several amazing locations in Alaska!

When our boys were babies we'd sit up at night talking about all of our big plans for our future. One of which was to make sure we traveled with them once they were old enough to remember. It's been so fun to see all the hard work and saving come to life, and I'm so glad I have these photos of us together!
