HONOR THIS MOMENT WITH AN EXPERIENCE OF PROFESSIONAL CARE AND CRAFTSMANSHIP. BECAUSE YOUR DOG IS ANOTHER MEMBER OF THE FAMILY.
I’m so glad you are here researching photography for you and your loved ones. There is nothing more valuable than holding a photograph of someone you love, smiling back at you from years ago. I love to tell people that my job is all about preserving legacy and documenting relationships. Even though we have the technology to take all the pictures in the world on our phone, it’s completely different to see a professionally crafted portrait of your child, or your mother, or your grandmother hanging on the wall in your home. Or page through the album of your grown children from the week they were born.
I provide you with a luxury experience where you feel pampered, professionally styled, and totally wowed when you see how beautiful your family really is. Go for a luxe session and you’ll have professional hair & makeup done before we start. It’s a great experience for your mother, grandmother, or special woman in your life. The experience is wonderful, and the final product is priceless.
HOW IT WORKS
Crafting your unique experience is easy peasy. Bring your ideas, hobbies, obsessions, and dog along for the ride.
Before you even book your session, let’s get together. I’ll answer all of your questions and we can start plannnig where to go, what to wear, and what you’d like your final images to be. We can do this at my studio or over Zoom.
Our fun day to together to create, play, and have fun! Often we meet and start at the studio and go on location from there. Ladies – with the Luxe Session you’ll start with pro hair & makeup and get extra pampering!
Viewing & Ordering
This is our celebration meeting. We’ll start with a slideshow of all of your beautiful images and decide what collections and items we’d like to take home. We can do this directly after the session or a few days later. Bring anyone who might help in making financial decisions please.
The final piece is the culmination of what we do – having digital files & products that you can keep forever! Based on your order you’ll get albums, prints, wall art, and digital galleries. If you need any help with wall art installation, we’ll be right there to install for free. And now you’re an EJP preferred client for life 🙂
1. HOW MUCH WILL THIS COST TOTAL?
This is a great question, and one I want to be completely transparent with you about. First, at EJP we don’t try to force you to buy things you don’t love or spend more than your budget allows. I’m an artist, not a salesperson. This is why our journey starts with a Discovery Session. We go over the investment guide and look at products together so you know exactly what products & digitals cost before you book your Senior Session. To give you a ballpark, there are 2 session types; a Luxe session with professional hair & makeup for $200 or a Simple session for $150. We then use our simple “Create a Collection” to put together your choice of Albums, Folio Boxes, Wall Art, Gift Prints, and Digital Files. These start at $400 and most folks spend between $800-2200. Take a peak HERE at the Investment Page as a starter.
2. DO YOU OFFER DIGITAL FILES?
YES! Digital Files can be purchased A La Carte or at a discount when you pair them with an Album, Wall Art Piece, or Video. We also back-up all images you purchase just in case your computer crashes somewhere down the line.
3. DO YOU RETOUCH IMAGES?
You bet I retouch everything. All digital files include a standard retouch to correct for color balance, color tone, and exposure. Any image purchased inside an Album or Wall Art piece gets a Signature Retouch, which includes skin, eyes, teeth, hair retouching, background object removal if needed, and any other creative editing. For headshots, each digital image purchase will get a full Signature Retouch and can include a transparent background if you’d like as well. If you need something specific just ask!
4. DO YOU SHOOT ON LOCATION?
Of course I shoot on location all the time. We live near gorgous parks, cities, and outdoor spaces. My studio is steps away from downtown Excelsior, the lake, the beach, and the park. If you’d like your session to be outside, downtown Minneapolis, or even outside the Twin Cities area let’s chat. I do charge for mileage if greater than 25 miles from Excelsior.
5. DO YOU OFFER WARDROBE & STYLING?
I don’t have a studio wardrobe to offer clients (yet) but am happy to discuss ideas and make recommendations for you. I can also recommend rental services and help you choose what to wear. If you’d like to book a stylist for your shoot, I know some fabulously talented professionals in the Twin Cities who can help you really put those pieces together.
6. HOW MANY OUTFITS CAN I HAVE?
For a typical High School Senior girl session, I recommend bringing 7-10 outfits knowing we’ll choose 3-6 of them during our shoot. For the High School guys, that can be less. For families, sometimes 2-3 outfit changes is about what we can get in but it could be more if needed. We can definately chat about this during your Discovery Session and plan out what wardrobe we’ll pair with a background or location so we have a plan before we shoot.
7. HAIR AND MAKEUP?
YES! I work with some very talented HMUA artists who are in the commercial fashion world. Ladies I always recommend getting the Luxe Session which provides hair and makeup before your shoot. You can choose a very natural or a little glammed up look. Not only will you feel beautifully pampered but your images will be next level. Trust me, it’s amazing!
8. BUT I ALWAYS LOOK WEIRD IN PHOTOS!
Don’t worry, I hear this just about every day. Most people have some kind of issue with how they look in photos, it’s completely normal. When you hire a professional (like me!) please know that you’re not just hiring a fancy camera and lens. You are also hiring someone with the experience and knowledge of how to pose different body shapes & sizes, how to create flattering light, how to choose clothing that will look amazing, and how to retouch those suspect areas. You are paying for quality in the experience and in the final product, just like you would when purchasing a designer handbag or high-end piece of furniture. Don’t worry, I’ve got you!
Hi, I’m Emily
When I chose to study Photography after 15 years of teaching & playing the piano, it was because I wanted to create something that would be truly helpful in people’s lives. Now I see the images I’ve helped create shared on LinkdIn profiles, Facebook feeds and in Magazines. They are proudly displayed on walls and bookshelves in loving homes. They are cherished by Moms whose babies are now too big to pick up. Shared by proud Grandparents who live outstate. They’ve helped new college grads find their first ‘real’ job and have helped local companies stay in business through a pandemic.
Everyone has a meaningful story they are living. Whether it’s personal or professional, we have something important in our lives that is worthy of photographing (especially ourselves!). I love working with authentic people like you who are not model perfect. You just need a steady hand to guide you through the process of ‘making a photograph’ with care and compassion. It’s very important work and I absolutely love getting to do it every day.
Now that we’ve broken the ice, I’ll tell you a few random things about me so I’m not so scary when I point the camera at you. First, I’m a mom to Wally (10 yrs) and Arthur (8 yrs) and Tillie our year old golden retriever. We live in Minnetonka near my favorite dog park – Purgatory Park. My favorite vacation spot in MN is Ely, where I’ve visited most summers since I was six years old and now bring my boys to every summer. I’m 6′ tall, left handed, an Enneagram 9 (the Peacemaker), and this year will celebrate a big milestone birthday. I love coffee ice cream, jogging (not running), Schitt’s Creek, and can quote most of The Princess Bride or sing any Chopin Nocturne.
